Define Samples

The Define samples screen is the third step in the image processing workflow. This screen is used to identify sample locations within each image and assign sample IDs.

Image Preview

Select an image file name from the list to show it. The right side of the screen displays a preview of the selected image.

Image Preview Tools

The toolbar on the right side of the image preview provides:

• Zoom in
• Zoom out
• Reset view
• Undo

Single Sample Images

For images containing only one sample, leave the Multiple samples toggle off. The software assumes the entire image area contains the sample.

Give the sample a name, then select the next image file to continue naming samples.

Multiple Sample Images

For images containing more than one sample:

1. Enable the Multiple samples toggle.
2. Adjust the selection regions in the image preview to indicate the general area of each sample.
3. Include significant white space around each tissue section. This buffer space assists with image registration.
4. Name each sample. The numbers on the rectangles correspond to the spaces for naming the samples.

Use the rectangles to define the general area where each sample is located, not the precise tissue boundaries. Tissue selection will happen in a later step.
