# Default preset group

The preset group [selected during case creation](/emedgene/emedgene-analyze-manual/launching-analysis/creating_a_single_case/3.-case-info/preset_groups.md) determines which presets appear in the [**Presets tab**](/emedgene/emedgene-analyze-manual/reviewing_a_case/analysis-tools-tab-beta-v100.39.0+/filters_presets_panel/presets.md) of the **Filtering panel**. If no preset group is selected during case creation, the **default preset group** is automatically applied.

Use the **Preset groups** section in **Lab workflow settings** to **assign a preset group as default.**

## Set a default preset group

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
In **Organization Settings** → **Lab workflow** → **Default preset group**, open the dropdown.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Select a preset group.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Select **Save**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

**Result**: The default preset group is displayed in future cases with no assigned preset group. Existing cases are not updated.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** A default group cannot be hidden or [reverted](/emedgene/emedgene-analyze-manual/settings/organization_settings_-330+/lab-workflow/preset-groups/legacy-preset-groups.md#revert-a-migration).
{% endhint %}
