# Adding a gene to Curate

To add a gene in, use manual entry in **Curate.** Follow the instructions below.

## How to add a gene in Curate

Open **Curate Genes.**

In the navigation panel, select the **Add new** button (+ symbol).

Search for the gene using its symbol, NCBI ID, or HGNC ID.

Select **Add**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

**Result:**

* Gene is added to **Curate**.
* The [**Curate Gene page**](/emedgene/emedgene-curate-manual/curate_genes_2_28/curate_gene_page.md) opens, where you can view detailed information, manage curated interpretations and notes, review transcripts and gene-level metrics, and explore related diseases and variants.
