# Pricing

Illumina Connected Analytics leverages cloud resources to perform the operations needed for data storage and compute workloads. This page details price information for the billable actions within the platform.

All data storage and compute workloads are charged for using iCredits. Learn more about iCredits [here](https://www.illumina.com/products/by-type/informatics-products/icredits.html).

## Analysis Price

To see the price of an analysis in iCredits, look at **Projects > your\_project > Flow > Analyses > your\_analysis > Details tab**. The pricing section will show you the entitlement bundle, storage detail and price in iCredits. For the API use `/api/projects/{projectId}/analyses/{analysisId}/usage`

{% hint style="info" %}
This is the **price for executing the analysis**, you will still incur additional data storage costs as long as you keep the data on ICA S3 storage.

## Base

This section provides information about data warehouse pricing in Base. Prices below are shown in **iCredits/hr** for each of the virtual warehouse sizes. Prices vary for each region.

The actual cost depends on duration, interval and requested resources. For example, when using Snowflake, **2 warehouses** are created. One for **query** handling and one to do **data** handling to prevent large data uploads from interfering with queries. Starting a warehouse typically takes only a few seconds; but it can take longer as Snowflake has to provision the compute resources for the warehouse. To counter this, Snowflake allows to set a time interval during which a warehouse is kept running so that ensuing actions have low latency because they don't have to wait for a warehouse to be spun up. ICA has this time interval set to 5 minute, so after any query or data action, the warehouse is **kept running for 5 more minutes**. For this reason, it is most economical to do as many actions as possible in a short interval and not leaving 5 minutes between actions. In addition, Snowflake has a one minute minimum charge. For more information on warehouses, please refer to the[Snowflake documentation](https://docs.snowflake.com/en/user-guide/warehouses-overview).

In the example below, you can see which charges are incurred. Query 1 and 2 can both be done within the same running warehouse, for 3, a new warehouse needs to be spun up. The total cost in this example is running a warehouse for 1 & 2 (10s + 120s idle + 90s + 5 min idle) and a warehouse for 3 (1 min + 5 min idle). This in turn illustrates why it would be more economical to do all queries, within one short timeslot. Then you only have the time of those queries + 5 minutes of keeping the warehouse spinning after the last query. Additionally you can have load warehouses following the same principle running in parallell.
