Samples must be assigned to an active workflow before they can be accessed and worked on from Lab View.
On the main menu, navigate to the Projects and Samples tab.
In the Projects list, select the project containing the desired samples.
In the Samples and Workflow Assignment area, the Submitted Samples and Derived Samples tabs list all the samples included in the project. Select the tab that lists the desired samples. If no work has been performed on the samples, no derived samples are listed.
In the chosen samples list, select the samples to be assigned to a workflow. Use the following methods to select or deselect samples:
Select a group to select all samples in the group (the button label changes to Deselect Group).
Expand the group and select samples to add them individually. Use Shift + select to select multiple adjacent samples or Ctrl + select to select multiple nonadjacent samples.
To deselect samples, select them or select Deselect Group to deselect all samples in the group.
When finished selecting samples, select Assign To Workflow and select the desired workflow from the drop-down list.
The list displays all the workflows that are currently active in the system.
In the samples list, a label displays showing the samples that are now assigned to a workflow. Select the X inside a label to remove that sample from the workflow.
In the Workflows area on the right, the number of samples assigned to the workflow displays. Select the X in the upper-right corner to remove all samples from the workflow.
Repeat steps 3 to 6 to assign other samples to workflows, as required.
Assigned samples now display in Lab View, in the Available Work area, listed under the first protocol step of the selected workflow.
To locate samples in the queue quickly, filter on the sample name.
By default, anyone signed in can remove or unassign samples from a workflow, provided no work has been recorded (or is in progress) in that workflow for those samples. However, this role-based permission is configurable. If the samples have recorded protocol steps or are in progress in the workflow, they cannot be removed from it without special user permissions. For details, see Configured Role-Based Permissions.
